Alan Shapiro, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, has published 15 books of poetry and 6 books of prose. His numerous awards include a Lila Wallace-Reader’s Digest Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship in poetry, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award, the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award in Poetry, and the O.B. Hardison Jr. Poetry Prize from the Folger Shakespeare Library. His works have been finalists for the National Book Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. His most recent collection of poetry, Diver, is forthcoming in 2026.
