Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will be offering several programs during the month of October to recognize the diverse and amazing history of New York State. The historic site will provide online presentations as well as onsite tours and “virtual” field trips. Online presentations will occur on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The slate of presenters and topics is: - Tuesday, Oct. 12th with Ken Jones, Esperance Historian, “The Ballads of the Schoharie Creek Drownings, a Series of Unfortunate Events” - Thursday, Oct. 14th with Sean Kelleher, Town of Saratoga Historian, “Who is Saint Isaac Joques? And Why Does He Matter?” - Tuesday, Oct. 19th with David Brooks, Schoharie Crossing staff, “Iron-Hearted: The 115th NYSV in the Civil War” - Thursday, Oct. 21st with Kathy Sheehan, Rensselaer County & Troy City Historian, “The Wild Women of Rensselaer County” - Tuesday, Oct. 26th with Paul Gorgen, Independent Scholar, “Mohawks and the Dutch in the Mohawk Valley” - Thursday, Oct. 28th with Mary Alexander, educator at the Arkell Museum, “Memory and Celebration: Examining the 1929 Sesquicentennial of the Sullivan Clinton Campaign” All online programs will begin at 6:30pm and are offered for free via the online platform, WebEx.
