Marina Vishmidt: ON THE RECURSIVITY OF CARE at EMPAC
Marina Vishmidt: ON THE RECURSIVITY OF CARE at EMPAC
In her writing and research, Marina Vishmidt assesses how art, labor, and value intertwine. For this commissioned talk in EMPAC Studio 2, the visiting scholar explores a question of "recursion" in care & maintenance work–be it on the home, the body, or the self. The program includes film screenings—Fannie's Film by Fronza Woods (1981) and a Margaret Raspé Frautomat film from the early 1970s—as Vishmidt examines how replication and repetition yields difference.
Marina Vishmidt is an American writer, editor, and critic. She lectures at the Centre for Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London in the MA program Culture Industry, and teaches art theory in the MA Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem.
