John Cage Trust & Time and Space present: PAUL LAZAR of BIG DANCE THEATER
Anne Carson on Skywriting and John Cage...
Join us at Time and Space Limited (Hudson, NY) for a special performance of a work in-progress!
Paul Lazar of New York's Big Dance Theater has been in residence at the John Cage Trust (for a three-week residency supported by a NYSCA Targeted Opportunity and the John Cage Trust) creating a new work that encompasses a text by Anne Carson that includes her poem "Each Day Unexpected Salvation (John Cage)." The working title had been Snowstanding, Winterwalking, but is currently perhaps called Lecture On The History of Skywriting, or later might end up being called Skywriting / Snowstanding / Waterwalking. We shall see!
His residency at the John Cage Trust culminates with this special showing at Time and Space Limited in Hudson, NY. Don't miss this chance to experience this developing work before it's official premiere next January at The Chocolate Factory in NYC. By the way, Paul just won the prestigious 2026 John Cage Award in Performance Art/Theater from the Foundation for Contemporary Performance.
Do also join us for a free online conversation with Paul Lazar, and Big Dance Theater (and life) partner Annie-B Parson about Cage, Big Dance Theater , and this exciting new work the day before, Thursday, March 19th at 3pm ET, part of our CHANCE ENCOUNTERS WITH JOHN CAGE free online series on Zoom. Register for the online event HERE.
