Ham Radio Field Day!

Ham Radio Field Day!

Amateur Radio Field Day is an on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada where more than 35,000 radio amateurs, or hams, gather with their clubs, groups or friends to operate from remote locations. Operators try to contact as many other Field Day stations as possible under simulated emergency conditions and exchange information about their operation. Many of the participating operators will use alternate power sources such as portable generators, batteries and even solar power. The public is invited to come and see ham radio's capabilities. They can get on the air at the special 'GOTA' (Get On The Air) station for the general public, or inactive or new hams. Learn about amateur radio at www.arrl.ort/what-is-ham-radio
