Geology walk with Robert Titus

Geology walk with Robert Titus

Prepare to experience High Falls in a completely new way. Led by Robert Titus, this geology walk will explore and explain how advancing and retreating ice-age glaciers shaped much of Columbia County’s landscape through erosion and deposition.

Together, we will go back in time to when glacial ice sculpted scores of small hills in the Western half of the county.

What’s involved: We will be walking about one mile down and back on the Waterfall Way trail, stopping often to talk about the landscape. This trail has a maximum grade of 15% and is forested with packed earth, bog bridges, and exposed roots. There are seating opportunities alongside the trail.

What to bring: Please bring a water bottle and wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Smartphones or a way to take notes are recommended for this program!

What not to bring: Please, no dogs.
