Capital District Youth Chorale 40th Anniversary Talent Gala
Capital District Youth Chorale 40th Anniversary Talent Gala
The Capital District Youth Chorale (formerly the Schenectady County Community College Children's Chorus) has provided musical opportunities for students from ages 9 to 18 since the Spring of 1983 and today they have singers from all over the Capital District (representing 20 different public, private and homeschooling communities). Not only is this the 40th Anniversary Year but CDYC’s Director and Founder, Diane B. Warner, plans to retire after the 2023 Season. CDYC provides singers with opportunities to perform with orchestras, college and adult community choirs in the Capital District region of upstate New York and beyond. This talented group of singers meets once a week and performs annually with the Grammy Award winning Albany Symphony. They have also performed in England, Canada and seven states along the eastern seaboard. The group is divided into 4 ensembles, choristers (grades 4-6), junior chamber choir (grades 6-8) senior chamber choir (grade 9-12) and changed voices (grades 8-12). Performances on May 21st will include vocal and instrumental solos by current members. The ticket price includes entry to a reception for Mrs. Warner following the concert.
The Chorale will give the premier performance of a newly commissioned piece by composer Jacob Narverud. The piece is entitled "Hold On" and is based on the Rudyard Kipling poem "If."
