Autobiography is dance in the ballet lineage merged with choreographer Wayne McGregor's genetic code and AI. The work consists of 23 sections of movement material that reflect the 23 pairs of chromosomes of the human genome. The sections are then fed into an algorithm based on McGregor's DNA data, which randomly selects sections to create a new version of the work each time it's presented. Through the layering of choreographic imprints over personal data, McGregor has upended the traditional nature of dance-making to create a convergence of creative authorship. Autobiography is performed by a cast of 9 dancers and set to an original score by Jlin.

McGregor is also Resident Choreographer at The Royal Ballet, Director of Dance for the Venice Biennale, and is regularly commissioned by and has works in the repertories of the most important dance companies around the world.
