The mayor of Utica is holding the first of four community meetings on his proposed budget tonight.
City officials say Mayor Robert Palmieri and his staff will meet with neighbors to give an overview of the spending plan and answer residents’ questions. The second-term Democrat’s $72.5 million proposed budget comes at a time when Utica is seeing tremendous improvement in its fiscal stress score, according to New York state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office.
The city website notes that over the past six years, Utica successfully executed a financial recovery plan, resulting in credit rating upgrades.
The schedule for the community budget meetings is as follows;
East Utica/Cornhill- Wednesday February 14th 5:30pm, Empowerment Center (230 James St)
North Utica- Monday February 26th 6:30pm, North Utica Senior Center (50 Riverside Dr.)
West Utica- Wednesday February 28th 7:00pm, West Utica Senior Center (717 Court St.)
South Utica- Monday March 12th 6:00pm, Notre Dame Elementary School (11 Barton Ave)
