Book Examines History Of Albany's Streets

Cradle of the Union: A Street by Street History of New York's Capital City
Jim Levulis, WAMC News

While every city has a Main Street or First Avenue, most cities have street names that carry history with them. Writer Erik Schlimmer dug through historical records to find out why the streets of Albany have their current names.

Schlimmer is the author of Cradle of the Union: A Street by Street History of New York’s Capital City, published by Beechwood Books. He spoke with WAMC’s Brian Shields about his work.
