Major Capital Region Sears Store Will Close

A popular suburban Albany shopping mall is losing one of its long-time anchors.

Trade publication Business Insider reports Sears employees at about 20 affected stores across the country were informed of closings Thursday. Among them: the store at Colonie Center, which has been doing business there since the mall opened in 1966. The closure announcements come the same day that Sears Canada revealed that it will be shuttering 59 stores. Neither representatives of Sears or Colonie Center were immediately available for comment.
