Man Shot In Colonie Center Parking Lot

Police say a 38-year-old man was shot in the stomach at a suburban Albany shopping mall parking lot following a dispute that began earlier in the night.

Police in the town of Colonie say the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Thursday in the Colonie Center parking lot outside a movie theater entrance.

Official say Jermel Hawkins of Schenectady was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital and underwent surgery. He's expected to survive.

Lt. Robert Winn says bullets were located in a parked car and a lamp post, with shell casings found all over the lot.

It isn't immediately known what the disagreement was about, but police say it began when Hawkins and another man encountered each other among two separate groups.

Police determined the shooter fled in a car.
