Police say a man was shot and killed at a Father's Day barbecue in Albany.

Forty-six-year-old Terrance Roberts was pronounced dead shortly after police responded to reports of gunshots Sunday afternoon in the South End. The Times Union reports that police say the shooting came after some sort of altercation at a barbecue attended by dozens of friends and family.

A person who said she was Roberts' niece told the paper that a fight broke out between the victim's wife and another woman, after which a gun was pulled and her uncle, who was "shielding" his spouse, was shot.

Police declined to provide details about potential suspects, saying the investigation is ongoing.
