Police: Skidmore Employee Stole $250,000 In Electronics

A former employee of an upstate New York college has been charged with stealing more than $250,000 in electronic items from the school.

State police say they arrested 47-year-old Clifford Williams of the Rensselaer County town of Nassau on Monday and charged him with grand larceny and falsifying business records.

Troopers say he stole $258,000 worth of assorted electronic gear from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs from 2011 to 2015 by purchasing the items using a college credit card. Police say he then took the merchandise to his Albany-area home.

He was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court and released on his own recognizance. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.

Skidmore officials say Williams was employed for 11 years in the college's information technology office.
