Capital Regional alternative weekly Metroland is for sale.
Editor and publisher Stephen Leon says in a press release Friday that after "20 years of continuous publication, the current ownership group of Metroland is seeking to retire from publishing and find a buyer to take Metroland to the next level."
The news, arts and culture focused newspaper is an Albany-area staple, but has faced challenges familiar across the print industry in recent years. In the statement, Leon adds:
"Although the publishing landscape has changed dramatically since we took over publication of the weekly paper in 1995, we believe Metroland—both print and online—is a vital community resource and well-positioned to grow with and adapt to a new generation of Capital Region readers."
