Berkshire Theatre Group is presenting a week-long opera festival in Stockbridge, MA through this weekend.

Part of the workshop festival is a fully-staged production of the Verdi opera La Traviata. It will have performances at Berkshire Theatre Group’s Unicorn Theater Friday August 29th at 8:00pm and Sunday Aug 31st at 2:00pm.

We are joined now by Cody Austin, a Texan tenor who sings the role of Alfredo in this production. He recently appeared at Grand Rapids Opera, Des Moines Opera and Utah Opera. We are also joined by Dr. Michael Fennelly the Music director of La Traviata. Michael is a concert pianist who made his Carnegie Hall debut as a solo artist. He won the Horowitz competition in Kiev and has performed on every continent. He is also an orchestral conductor.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
