Malcolm Gets' "I Happen to Like New York" at Helsinki on Broadway

This Sunday, Malcom Gets becomes the next acclaimed artist to perform at Helsinki Hudson in Hudson, NY as part of the Showstoppers New York cabaret series “Helsinki on Broadway.”

Gets’ show, “I Happen to Like New York,” features songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, James Taylor, Peter Mills – and more!

Malcolm Gets was nominated for a Tony Award for his work in Amour – other New York credits include Merrily We Roll Along, The Boys from Syracuse, and The Apple Tree. He made his Carnegie Hall debut as a guest star in Barbara Cook’s 2001 concert. The last time we spoke with him, he was appearing at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Ten Cents a Dance – a John Doyle musical with songs by Rodgers and Hart.

Sarah has worked in radio since she graduated from college in 2006. In her work with WAMC, she often interviews regional and global artists in all fields including music, theatre, film, television, and visual arts. During the main thrust of the Covid-19 pandemic shut-down, Sarah hosted a live Instagram interview program "A Face for Radio Video Series." On it, Sarah spoke with artists about the creative activities they were accomplishing and/or missing. She is on the board of WAM Theatre and lives in Albany, New York with her husband, Paul, and their dog, Doritos.
