Albany, NY – In today's Academic Minute, Dr. Peter Girguis of Harvard University's Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology explores the ecological consequences of the BP oil spill.
Dr. Girguis, who earned a Ph.D. from UC Santa Barabara in marine biology, is John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Natural Sciences.
Dr. Girguis works to better understan the physiology of uncultivated microbes that govern major geochemical cycles in the deep oceans, the largest biome on Earth.
