Albany, NY – International Women's Day is in March, and in the, U.S. it's also Women's History Month. And this year, nearly seventy years after taking to the air, a group of groundbreaking women are finally getting the recognition they've been waiting for. Greg Fry spoke with Lillian Yonally, a New Yorker who was one of the first women to serve her country as the pilot of a B-25.

And our heartiest congratulations to Lillian and the other women of the WASP program, who were given that award this month.

International Women's Day was celebrated with bridge walks around the world, walks calling for creating connections and ending war. And in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, Bard College at Simons Rock held its annual International Women's Day Conference. This year's theme was Women in STEM - science, technology, engineering and math. 51%'s Charlie Deitz was there and spoke with organizer Jennifer Browdy de Hernandez.

Dr. Jennifer Browdy de Hernandez is a professor of gender studies and literature at Bard College and Simon's Rock and the organizer of the school's International Women's Day conference.

And finally, Sarah LaDuke speaks with Marilyn Nelson, Connecticut Poet Laureate, who's written a book honoring the International Sweethearts of Rhythm the first integrated all-woman band known as the most prominent, and best, all woman band of the Big Band era.
