Vermont's largest hospital is now claiming the title of the state's largest private employer.
For years the IBM plant in Essex Junction was Vermont’s largest private employer.
But as the IBM plant has shrunk, Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington has continued to grow.
Fletcher Allen Health Care spokesman Mike Noble says they employ about 7,100 people and they surpassed IBM several years ago.
It's unclear how many people IBM employs now. The company just went through another round of layoffs.
