Vermont-Based World Learning to Get New President

A top official with the U.S. Agency for International Development and a former U.S. ambassador will become the next president of the Vermont-based organization World Learning.

Donald Steinberg will take over at the Brattleboro-based World Learning in July.

Founded in 1932, World Learning focuses on education, exchange, and development programs in more than 60 countries.

Steinberg will succeed Adam Weinberg, who announced in November that he would step down at World Learning in June to become president of Denison University in Ohio.

As deputy administrator at USAID, Steinberg's focus included the Middle East,  Africa and women's empowerment.

During nearly 30 years with the government, Steinberg has also served as director of the State Department's joint Policy Council, White House deputy press secretary and U.S. ambassador to Angola.
