New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik are trading criticism after the Democratic governor was asked about Stefanik’s letter seeking state guidance about whether summer camps should plan to open this year.

Here’s how Cuomo responded when asked about the letterduring his daily coronavirus briefing Thursday.

"What you can say to Representative Elise Stefanik and all our great Washington representatives: we could provide rental assistance for people who can't pay rent, we could provide child care for essential workers, we are now," Cuomo said. "You know what it takes? Money. Funding. Money."

Stefanik, a Republican from the 21st District, held a conference call with reporters later in the day.

"For someone who lectures New Yorkers day in and day out about not engaging in political attacks, the governor needs to take his own advice, and rather than responding to a basic question about summer camp public health guidance, he instead chose to attack me by name," she said.
