Dr. Alan Chartock's Morning Commentary

WAMC's Dr. Alan Chartock discusses Hurricane Dorian, which began hitting Florida's east coast on Tuesday and is expected to affect Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina later this week.

He also comments on reports that a North Carolina court panel threw out the state's legislative maps for gerrymandering, and the future of the Electoral College in the U.S. Also in the headlines: the Pentagon plans to shift funding from 127 military building projects for President Trump's border wall.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
