President Trump's Approach To Afghanistan

A map of Afghanistan
CIA World Factbook

New troop deployments to Afghanistan are expected pretty quickly in the words of General Joseph Votel, the top U.S. commander in the Middle East. That word came just hours after President Trump outlined his administration’s strategy on America’s longest war during a nationally broadcast address.

Rick Mathews is with the University at Albany College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity where he is a professor of public service. He says one major point of the speech was the president’s promise of no more nation building and the fact that few details of the plan were announced.
