Mentoring Program Still A Priority For Matilda Cuomo

Matilda Cuomo

A mentoring program that first began in the 1980s in New York during the Mario Cuomo administration continues today, and now it has a worldwide reach. The chair of the New York State Mentoring Program is no stranger to the top levels of power in the state. Matilda Cuomo is the widow of Mario Cuomo and the mother of current Governor Andrew Cuomo. The program, which was reestablished at the state level in 2015, ran from 1984 until 1995, and was revived when Andrew Cuomo was the U.S. Housing Secretary during the Clinton administration. Mrs. Cuomo picks up the story from there.
