NBA:

In the NBA, Detroit topped Brooklyn 105-100, Atlanta won against Dallas 112-97, Memphis bested New Orleans 110-95, Oklahoma City defeated Washington 114-98, San Antonio beat Orlando 107-92, Utah won against Chicago in overtime 105-96, Denver bested Toronto 112-93, Sacramento topped Milwaukee 111-104, and it was Cleveland over Indiana in overtime 111-106.

NHL:

NHL play will resume tonight after the All-Star break.

MLS:

The New York Red Bulls have hired Preston Burpo as their goalkeepers coach. The Major League Soccer team announced the hiring yesterday. A former MLS goalkeeper, Burpo was on coach Jesse Marsch's staff with the Montreal Impact in 2012, and with D.C. United for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

NCAA:

UConn, South Carolina, Notre Dame and Baylor are the four Number 1 seeds right now according to the NCAA women's basketball selection committee. Taking a page from the college football playoffs, the NCAA decided this year to release the top 10 women's teams three times in February to help build a buzz for the tournament in March. The first list came out last night.

Defending Beanpot champion Boston University beat Northeastern 3-1 last night to set up a tournament championship against Boston College. BC beat Harvard 3-2 in the first game. The Terriers are headed to their 51st Beanpot championship in the 64th year of the tournament and have won 30 times. Boston College is looking for its 20th title. Either BU or BC has won the title every year since 1993.

In college men's basketball, Quinnipiac beat Fairfield 64-59 last night. Giovanni McLean hit five 3-pointers and scored 25 points, both career highs. Donovan Smith added nine points and a career-best 10 rebounds for Quinnipiac. Tyler Nelson scored 13, and Marcus Gilbert added 11 points for Fairfield.

Justin Robinson scored a career-best 36 points to help Monmouth beat Siena 93-87 and sweep the season series with the Saints on Monday night. Robinson hit four 3-pointers on the night and made all 12 of his free throws. Siena had entered with an opportunity to tie Monmouth for first place in the MAAC standings, but instead the Saints fell to third, two games behind the Hawks and a game behind second place Iona.

NFL:

"Thursday Night Football" will air on both CBS and NBC next season. The NFL says it has agreed to a two-year deal with the networks. CBS had broadcast games in partnership with NFL Network the past two seasons.

The son of a former New York Giants Super Bowl champion has pleaded guilty in an assault-by-auto case. Clint Benson faces up to seven years in prison. The charges against him stem from a 2013 incident outside a bar in Branchburg. Benson the son of Brad Benson, an offensive lineman on the Giants' 1987 Super Bowl team.
