VT AG Race Too Close To Call

The two Democratic candidates for Vermont attorney general are waiting until the results are in from all of the state's cities and towns before making any announcements about which of them won the race.

With about 95 percent of the state's precincts reporting unofficial results, incumbent William Sorrell held about a 2 percent lead over challenger T.J. Donovan on Tuesday night.

With just over 40,600 votes cast, the difference between the two candidates was 614 votes.

Donovan sent his supporters home from a Burlington hotel just before 11 p.m., telling them they would soon learn who won the race.

Meanwhile, Windsor businessman John MacGovern handily defeated Republican primary opponent Brooke Paige in the race to challenge independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders in November.
