Charlotte, Vt – Charlotte lawmakers voted down a proposal from All Earth Renewables to install solar panels on a half acre of the town-owned Thompson's Point last week.

Now a much larger solar field is being proposed. Solar Charlotte LLC wants to build 345 solar panels on 15 acres. The panels would be built on private land on the north side Hinesberg Rd. and generate 2.8 megawatt hours of power.

Solar Charlotte LLC was established by American Capital Energy, a Massachusetts-based solar developer. Solar Charlotte LLC says its project will have little impact on land and have several environmental benefits.

The planning commission will discuss the project at its meeting this Thursday evening.
