Washington, D.C. – The AARP sponsored the telephone town hall with the Senator to discuss medicare and social security funding. AARP National President-elect Robert Romasco.
Senator Sanders told the callers that some think it would be a brilliant idea to lower the deficit by "making savage cuts in Social Security or in Medicare or dismembering both programs".
While the COLA, or Cost of Living Allowance, has been raised by 3.6 percent, there were numerous concerns raised by Vermonters during the hour-long town hall.
According to the AARP, more then 125-thousand Vermonters rely on Social Security as a critical source of income.
