Albany Symphony Orchestra's Grammy Win And February 8th Concert

Albany Symphony Orchestra

The Albany Symphony Orchestra won a Grammy Award on Sunday for Best Classical Instrumental solo for its recording of composer John Corigliano's "Conjurer — Concerto For Percussionist & String Orchestra," recorded in the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

This percussion concerto was conducted by David Alan Miller who joins us this morning to tell us how much a Grammy weighs and about their upcoming concert at The Palace in Albany, featuring Ravel’s Bolero, selections from Wagner’s powerful, historic opera Tristan and Isolde, and more.

Joe talks to people on the radio for a living. In addition to countless impressive human "gets" - he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.
