Albany, NY – OPENING BILLBOARD & EDUCATION HEADLINES - Glenn Busby (1.30)
EDUCATION BUDGET PROPOSAL, FISCAL 2012
Part Two: Pre K - 12 Cuts and Investments -
As we witness massive education unrest unfold, and education budget upheavals all across the country, congress has been working on the administration's fiscal year 2012 budget for the U.S. Department of Education. This is the budget that begins in just a few short months, in the fall.
Last week, we gave listeners an overview of plans to trim certain areas of the federal education budget and add new monies to other areas. We also focused on the future of higher education and changes necessary to Pell Grants due to a forecast 20-Billion dollar deficit for just that one line item. You can still hear that program online at: http://www.wamc.org/prog-tbook.html. It's Show # 1070.
This week as promised, we report on the planned cuts and investments for Pre K through high school. There are many details in here that could impact listeners. So we advise you to listen closely to what the secretary reveals.
