Saturday is the deadline for voters to get their ballots in the mail for New York state’s school board and school budget elections. There will be no in-person voting in the June 9 elections due to safety precautions because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Area voters will be the next to weigh in after the Schenectady Board of Education unanimously adopted a more than $194 million school budget earlier this month.  The plan emphasizes school safety and support for struggling students.
