Sports Report: San Antonio Spurs Win Championship

NBA:

The San Antonio Spurs are NBA champions for the fifth time since 1999 following their third straight convincing win over the Miami Heat. Kawhi Leonard delivered 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Spurs ripped Miami 104-87 to win the finals in five games.

U.S. Open:

Martin Kaymer is just the seventh player in U.S. Open history to post a wire-to-wire victory. The German closed with a 15-foot par putt for a 1-under 69 and a 9-under total, eight shots ahead of Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler. Kaymer tied for the fourth-largest margin of victory at the Open and became the first German to capture the trophy. European players have won the event four times in the last five years. It's the second major title for Kaymer, who claimed the PGA Championship in 2010.

World Cup:

Switzerland defeated Ecuador 2-1, France shut out Honduras 3-0, and Argentina slid past Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1.

The United States will face Ghana today at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

MLB:

In the interleague play, Atlanta beat the Angels 7-3.

In the American League, Cleveland slid past Boston 3-2 in 11, Oakland trumped the Yankees 10-5, Toronto bested Baltimore 5-2, Tampa Bay topped Houston 4-3, Detroit edged Minnesota 4-3, and Seattle won against Texas 5-1.

In the National League, the Mets slid past San Diego 3-1, the Cubs blanked Philadelphia 3-0, Cincinnati blew out Milwaukee 13-4, Miami edged 3-2 in 10, St. Louis topped Washington 5-2, Arizona beat the Dodgers 6-3, and it was Colorado over San Francisco 8-7.

WNBA:

Connecticut beat New York 76-72, Phoenix defeated Minnesota 80-72, Atlanta won against Washington 75-67, and Tulsa bested Seattle 85-79.

NHL:

The Stanley Cup finals ended on Friday when the Kings went on to beat the Rangers 3-2 in double overtime.
