Sports Report: Spurs Over Heat in Game 3

NBA:

In the NBA finals, San Antonio topped Miami 111-92, giving the Spurs a 2-1 series lead.  Game 4 is tomorrow in Miami.

The New York Knicks have introduced Derek Fisher as their new head coach. Fisher agreed to replace Mike Woodson, who was fired by new Knicks' president Phil Jackson. His hiring comes days after he finished his 18th season as a player, a career that included five championships while playing for Jackson with the Lakers.

NHL:

Tonight’s Game 4 in the Stanley Cup finals. The Rangers will face Los Angeles at 8 p.m. where New York will look to avoid a sweep and put a win on the board. The Kings currently lead 3-0.

MLB:

In baseball, in interleague play, Arizona beat Houston 4-1, St. Louis slid past Tampa Bay 1-0, Miami defeated Texas 8-5.

In the American League, Boston edged Baltimore 1-0, Minnesota blanked Toronto 4-0, the Yankees topped Seattle 3-2, the Angels bested Oakland 2-1 in 14, and it was Kansas City over Cleveland 9-5. The Detroit at White Sox game was postponed due to rain.

In the National League, the Mets trumped Milwaukee 6-2, the Cubs beat Pittsburgh 7-3, Washington bested San Francisco 2-1, Atlanta topped Colorado 13-10, the Dodgers won against Cincinnati 6-1, and it was Philadelphia over San Diego 5-2.

Former Oakland A’s pitcher and last major leaguer to win at least 25 games in a season, Bob Welch, has died at the age of 57.

World Cup:

The World Cup starts tomorrow when Brazil goes head to head with Croatia at 4 p.m. on ESPN. The United States starts its bid for the title on Monday when it sees Ghana.

WNBA:

In the WNBA, Tulsa beat New York 72-57, Phoenix defeated Washington 81-66, and Seattle squeaked by Chicago 80-76.
