Sports Report: Michael Phelps Comes Out Of Retirement

Michael Phelps, the winner of 22 Olympic medals, is coming out of retirement with an eye on competing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Phelps will compete for the first time since the 2012 London Olympics at a meet in Mesa, Arizona, on April 24-26.

Hartford has been selected as the host city for the 2015 men’s basketball tournament by the American Athletic Conference.

In the American League, Baltimore beat Tampa Bay 7-1, Seattle defeated Texas 7-1, and Oakland bested the Angels 3-2.

In the National League, the Mets topped Arizona 7-3, Atlanta trumped Philadelphia 9-6, Washington won against Miami 9-2, San Diego slid past Colorado 5-4, and St. Louis ended Milwaukee’s nine-game winning streak when they shut out the Brewers 4-0.

In the NBA, the Indiana Pacers have wrapped up the top seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference playoffs without playing on Monday. The Washington Wizards did all the work for the Pacers by hammering the Miami Heat 114-93. Philadelphia outshot Boston 113-108, Toronto bested Milwaukee 110-100, Charlotte squeaked by Atlanta 95-93, New Orleans topped Oklahoma City 101-89, Chicago defeated Orlando 108-95, Houston trumped San Antonio 104-98, the Lakers edged Utah 119-104, Memphis won against Phoenix 97-91, and it was Golden State over Minnesota 130-120.

The first round of the playoffs for the NHL starts on Wednesday. For Game 1, the Rangers go head to head with Philadelphia on Thursday, and Boston will see Detroit on Friday. The best-of-seven series also features Tampa Bay vs Montreal, Anaheim vs Dallas, San Jose vs Los Angeles, Pittsburgh vs Columbus, Colorado vs Minnesota, and St. Louis vs Chicago.
