Sports Report: Union Men's Hockey Reaches First NCAA Title Game

The Union men’s hockey team defeated Boston College last night 5-4 and will go on to face Minnesota in the NCAA National Championship Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. Daniel Ciampiani scored Union’s first hatrick in over two years leading the skating Dutchmen to their first national championship game. 

Justin Holl scored a short-handed goal with 0.6 seconds left to give Minnesota a 2-1 victory against North Dakota on Thursday night in the NCAA semifinals.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has undergone arthroscopic surgery to relieve some lingering discomfort in the ankle he sprained in the regular season finale against Washington.

The Masters Tournament started yesterday in Augusta. Bill Haas is currently in the lead with four under par, followed closely by reigning champion Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen, and Bubba Watson.

In the American League, The Yankees beat Boston 4-1, Houston bested Toronto 6-4, Oakland topped Minnesota 6-1, and the White Sox trumped Cleveland 7-3.

Michael Pineda, the pitcher for the Yankees appeared to have some sort of substance visible on the palm of his hand during yesterday’s game against the Red Sox. What many speculated to be pine tar, Pineda denied the allegations and said after the game it was just dirt.

In the National League, The Mets defeated Atlanta 6-4, Pittsburgh slid past the Cubs 5-4, Washington edged Miami 7-1, Milwaukee beat Philadelphia 6-2, It was Arizona over San Francisco 6-5 in 10.

In the NBA, San Antonio bested Dallas 109-100, Denver squeaked by Golden State 100-99.

In the NHL, The Rangers defeated Buffalo 2-1, Winnipeg topped Boston in a shoot out 2-1, The Islanders shut out Montreal 2-0, Florida trumped Toronto 4-2, Ottawa beat New Jersey in a shoot out 2-1, it was Nashville over Phoenix 2-0, Washington out shot Carolina 5-2, Tampa Bay doubled up Philadelphia 4-2, Minnesota edged St. Louis 4-2, Los Angeles bested Edmonton 3-0, and it was Colorado over Vancouver 4-2.
