WAMC Sports Report: Syracuse Still In The Dance

The UAlbany Great Danes kept pace with No. 1 ranked Florida yesterday, tying the score at 39 with 14 minutes left to play but ultimately fell behind when Florida won with a 67-55 victory. No. 3 Syracuse saw a win over Western Michigan 77-53 and will go on to face No. 11 ranked Dayton on Saturday at 7:10PM in Buffalo on TBS. No. 7 UConn defeated No. 10 Saint Joesph’s 89-81. UConn advances to the Sweet Sixteen against No. 2 Villanova Saturday at 9:40PM in Buffalo on TBS. No. 4 Louisville beat No. 13 Manhattan 71-64.

No. 6 UMass will see No. 11 Tennessee today at 2:45PM in Raleigh North Carolina on CBS.

Four of the games on Thursday went into overtime and two of the games were 12-5 underdog upsets.

In men’s college hockey, Cornell will go head to head with Union college at 4PM on today in the first semifinal game of the ECAC Championship. Colgate will see Quinnipiac at 7:30PM later that day. The Championship game will take place on Saturday at 7:30PM.

In the NBA, Oklahoma City beat Cleveland 102-95,Houston defeated Minnesota 129-106, Portland topped Washington 116-103, Golden State outshot Milwaukee 115-110.

In the NHL, Philadelphia bested Dallas 4-2, New Jersey trumped Minnesota in overtime 4-3, Columbus slid past Montreal 3-2, Detroit edged Pittsburgh 5-4, Tampa Bay beat Ottawa 5-4, Phoenix outshot Florida 2-1, It was San Jose over Anaheim 3-2, Los Angeles won in a shoot out over Washington 2-1.
