WAMC Sports Report: Second Round Of NCAA Tournament Starts

The second round of the NCAA tournament starts today at 2:45 PM, No. 3 Syracuse will go head to head with No. 14 Western Michigan in Buffalo, on CBS. No. 16 UAlbany will see No. 1 ranked Florida in the second round of the Tournament to take place in Orlando at 4:10 PM, on TBS.

Tonight No. 7 UConn will have a game against No. 10 Saint Joseph’s at 6:55PM on TBS. No. 13 Manhattan vs No. 4 Louisville at 9:50PM on TNT.

The NCAA bracket has been filled with the completion of the last two games of the first four. No. 16 Cal Poly beat Texas Southern 81-69 to go on to face No. 1 Wichita State. No. 11 Tennessee saw a win against Iowa 78-65 fitting them for a game against No. 6 UMass on Friday.

In the NBA, the NY Knicks won their first game with new president Phil Jackson against Indiana 92-86, Brooklyn beat Charlotte 104-99, Boston defeated Miami 101-96, Toronto bested New Orleans 107-100, Memphis topped Utah 96-86, Minnesota out shot Dallas in overtime 123-122, Denver trumped Detroit 118-109, Phoenix edged Orlando 109-93, it was San Antonio over the LA Lakers 125-109.

In the NHL, Tampa Bay beat Toronto 5-3, Winnipeg bested Colorado in overtime 5-4, Chicago shut out St. Louis 4-0, Vancouver defeated Nashville 2-0.

In baseball spring training, The NY Yankees blanketed Atlanta 7-0, Toronto topped Philadelphia 11-6, Pittsburgh out shot Boston 4-2.
