Danes Upset Stony Brook 77-67

In college basketball, Sam Rowley scored 17 points to help UAlbany beat America East Conference league-leading Stony Brook 77-67 Wednesday night at SEFCU Arena.  Peter Hooley and DJ Evans chipped in with 11 each.

The win came six days after the Danes dropped a road game at New Hampshire, which only had three wins at the time.

Bentley had a 95-87 win over the College of Saint Rose.  

Top-ranked Arizona had a 60-57 victory over Stanford for their school-record 21st straight win.

Meanwhile, Syracuse kept pace by downing Wake Forest 67-57 to improve to 20-0, matching the best start in school history. No. 6 Kansas defeated No. 16 Iowa St. 92-81. It was Northwestern over No. 14 Wisconsin 65-56. Nineteenth-ranked Saint Louis beat Richmond 77-57. St. Bonaventure had a 78-65 victory over No. 21 UMass.

No. 22 Memphis took UCF 69-59 and twenty fourth-ranked Ohio St. fell to Penn St. 71-70 in overtime.

Checking news on the ice, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference handed out more discipline to the Union and RPI hockey coaches over Saturday night's brawl at Times Union Center.

The league added two games to Union coach Rick Bennett’s suspension, increasing the total to four, and suspended RPI coach Seth Appert for one game.  

In the NHL, the NY Rangers beat the NY Islanders 2-1 at Yankee Stadium. It was Edmonton over San Jose 3-0 and Chicago defeated Vancouver 5-2.

In the NBA, Philadelphia beat Boston 95-94. Oklahoma City topped Miami 112-95. Toronto defeated Orlando 98-83.  Minnesota edged New Orleans 88-77. Phoenix passed Milwaukee 126-117. Houston beat Dallas 117-115. Charlotte won against Denver 101-98. Chicago beat San Antonio 96-86. Memphis slid past Sacramento 99-89 and it was the Clippers over Washington 110-103.
