Cavs Hammer Knicks 109-94, UAlbany Triumphs Over Brown

In the NBA, Kyrie Irving scored 37 points and had 11 assists as the Cavaliers hammered New York 109-94. Jarrett Jack had 17 points to help the Cavaliers earn their fourth consecutive home win and drop the Knicks to 5-15.

Elsewhere, Deron Williams scored a season-high 25 points in his return to the lineup, while Brook Lopez added 24 in Brooklyn's 104-96 win over visiting Boston. Williams was sharp after missing the Nets' previous nine games with a sprained left ankle, helping the Nets post consecutive wins for the first time this season.

It was Indiana over Miami 90-84. San Antonio won against Toronto 116-103. Minnesota beat Detroit 121-94. Oklahoma City beat Atlanta 101-92. Milwaukee topped Chicago 78-74 and the Lakers fell to Phoenix 114-108.

In college basketball, UAlbany improved to 5-4 after defeating Brown 74-68. Junior forward Sam Rowley scored a team-high 20 points.

New Haven had 69-56 win over Saint Rose.

Meanwhile, the UAlbany women’s basketball team improved to 8-0 after beating New Jersey Institute of Technology 75-64.

In top 25 hoops news, No. 11 Kentucky knocked off Boise St. 70-55 and nineteenth-ranked Florida had a 67-61 victory over No. 13 Kansas.

Checking news on the ice, the New York Islanders had dropped 10 straight overall and 10 straight on the road until Kyle Okposo scored the tying and winning goals in a 3-2 shootout win at San Jose.

Elsewhere, Buffalo beat Ottawa 2-1 in a shootout. Nashville topped the NY Rangers 4-1. Boston won against Calgary 2-1. Los Angeles blanked Montreal 6-0. Columbus had a 5-4 victory of New Jersey. Washington defeated Tampa Bay 6-5 in a shootout. Florida took Detroit 3-2 in a shootout. It was St. Louis over Winnipeg 2-1. Chicago beat Dallas 6-2. Phoenix beat Colorado 3-1 and Edmonton slid past Carolina 5-4 in overtime.
