Crusaders' Dave Dudzinski Shoots 3-Pointer To Secure Victory Over UAlbany

The UAlbany men’s basketball team saw its two-game road winning streak come to an end after losing 62-57 to Holy Cross Wednesday night.

With 13 seconds left, Holy Cross was clinging to a 59-57 lead and had the ball out of bounds under its own basket. Center Dave Dudzinski, who is 6-foot-9 and 227-pounds shot from past the 3-point line securing the Crusaders victory.

Elsewhere, Southern Connecticut State had a 76-65 win over Saint Rose.

In top 25 college basketball, what was supposed to be an easy victory for No. 1 Michigan St. turned disastrous for the Spartans. J.P. Tokoto had 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds as the North Carolina Heels upset the Spartans 79-65. It was fifth-ranked Ohio St over Maryland 76-60. No. 7 Louisville topped UMKC 90-62. No. 8 Wisconsin beat Virginia 48-38. Fourteenth-ranked Villanova slid past Penn 77-54 and No. 25 Dayton knocked off Delaware St. 56-46.

In the NBA, Cleveland defeated Denver 98-88. Atlanta won against the Clippers 107-97. Dallas bested New Orleans 100-97. Detroit beat Milwaukee 105-98. Phoenix took Houston 97-88. Indiana edged Utah 95-86 and Oklahoma City fell to Portland 111-104.

The game between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves in Mexico City had to be postponed because of a generator fire.

Checking news on the ice, the Albany Devils upended the Springfield Falcons 6-4 in front of 1,710 at Times Union Center.

In the NHL, Montreal defeated New Jersey 4-3 in a shootout. Philadelphia doubled up Detroit 6-3 and Calgary passed Phoenix 4-1.

The prosecutor overseeing the investigation of sexual assault allegations against Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is expected to deliver the findings this afternoon.

Finally, the Yankees have agreed to sign infielder/outfielder Kelly Johnson to a one-year deal in the $3 million range. He’ll be insurance if the Yankees can’t resign Robinson Cano.
