Stanford Trumps Ducks, Jets Goodson Indicted On Weapons Charges

Sixth-ranked Stanford and fifth-ranked Baylor scored impressive victories to remain in the Bowl Championship Series title picture.

Stanford opened a 26-0 lead and knocked off second-ranked and previously undefeated Oregon 26-20, holding off a furious fourth quarter rally by the Ducks.

The fifth-ranked Baylor Bears erupted in the second half for a 41-12 victory over 12th-ranked Oklahoma. The 8-0 Bears beat a ranked team for the first time this season and improved to 5-0 in Big 12 play.

In the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings rallied for a 34-27 victory over Washington, outscoring the Redskins 20-3 in the second half. The Vikings improved to 2-7 while the Redskins fell to 3-6.

New York Jets running back Michael Goodson has been indicted on weapons charges stemming from a traffic stop in New Jersey on May 17.

Lineman Richie Incognito was investigated last year for harassing a volunteer at the Dolphins' annual golf tournament. Incognito was suspended Sunday amid accusations he bullied and used racial slurs against teammate Jonathan Martin.

In the NBA, Miami defeated the Clippers 102-97. Denver won against Atlanta 109-107 and Houston fell to the Lakers 99-98.

Checking news on the ice, it was Boston over Florida 4-1. New Jersey blanked Philadelphia 3-0. Carolina shut out the NY Islanders 1-0. The NY Rangers doubled up Columbus 4-2. Washington trumped Minnesota 3-2 in a shootout. Ottawa edged Montreal 4-1. Dallas topped Detroit 4-3 in overtime. Tampa Bay doubled up Edmonton 4-2. St. Louis beat Calgary 3-2. Los Angeles shut out Buffalo 2-0 and San Jose fell to Vancouver 4-2.
