Furyk And Scott Take First Round Lead At Oak Hill

In golf, Veteran Jim Furyk and Masters champion Adam Scott share the first-round lead at the 95th PGA Championship, the final major on the men's golf calendar. Both shot an opening round 5-under-65.

Tiger Woods shot an opening round 1-over-par-71 with a round that featured a bogey, double bogey and two birdies. British Open champion Phil Mickelson stumbled with a double-bogey on No. 18 and also shot 1-over 71.

Over to baseball, in the American League, Kansas City defeated the Red sox 5-1 last night. The Royals won for the 16th time in 20 games since the All-Star break. Detroit topped Cleveland 10-3 for Max Scherzer's 17th victory in 18 decisions. He is baseball's first 17-game winner.

In the National League, the Mets won 2-1 over Colorado. The victory gave New York the first three-game sweep of the Rockies since 2008. Pittsburgh defeated Miami 5-4 in 10 innings. Philadelphia crushed the Cubs 12-1. San Francisco beat Milwaukee 4-1 and the Dodgers topped St. Louis 5-1.

Check NFL preseason action, Baltimore beat Tampa Bay 44-16. It was Cincinnati over Atlanta 34-10. Washington defeated Tennessee 22-21. Denver Won against San Francisco 10-6 and Seattle beat San Diego 31-10.

In NASCAR, Tony Stewart underwent a second surgery on his broken right leg today and remains hospitalized under observation in North Carolina.

In tennis, Wimbledon champion Andy Murray tumbled out of the Rogers Cup, falling 6-4, 6-3 to Latvia's Ernests Gulbis in the third round.

Finally at Saratoga Race Course, Frosty Bay won the New York Stallion Series Stakes, paying $16.20 to win.
