Andrew Brown Lifts Mets In 13th To 5-4 Victory

In baseball news, it was an emotional night for Arizona. The Diamondbacks wore a black arm band to honor the 19 firefighters killed this week fighting wild fires. As for the game, the Mets erased a 3-0 deficit before Andrew Brown hit a two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the 13th to complete a 5-4 win over Arizona.

Well, A-Rod is set to play his first minor league game on a rehabilitation assignment. The Yankees said Monday that Rodriguez is scheduled to start tonight for Single-A Charleston in the South Atlantic League.

Checking the scoreboard now, Robinson Cano homered twice and Andy Pettitte broke Whitey Ford's club record for career strikeouts to help the New York Yankees snap a five-game skid with a 10-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

In the National League, Bryce Harper returned from the disabled list and homered on the second pitch he saw before Washington completed a 10-5 win over Milwaukee. Miami blanked San Diego 4-0 and it was Cincinnati over San Francisco 8-1.

In the American League, Toronto defeated Detroit 8-3 and Tampa Bay shut out Houston 12-0.

The stunning string of upsets at Wimbledon continued into the second week. Sabine Lisicki of Germany defeated Defending champion Serena Williams in the fourth round, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. William’s loss makes Sloane Stephens is the last American player left in the competition.

Finally, the PGA Tour is going along with the new rule that will make it illegal in 2016 to use a long putter that is anchored to the body.
