Chris Davis Homers And Baltimore Beats Yanks 4-2

Chris Davis is at it again.

Davis set a franchise record hitting his 31st home run before the All-Star break, helping Baltimore beat the Yankees 4-2 Sunday night for a three-game sweep. The Yankees have now lost five straight games.

Elsewhere on the scoreboard, the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 5-4. Boston won for the fifth time in six games and improved to an American League-best 50-34. Washington crushed the Mets 13-2.

In the American League, Tampa Bay beat Detroit 3-1. Cleveland blanked the White Sox 4-0. Kansas City edged ahead of Minnesota 9-8 and the Angels defeated Houston 3-1.

In the National League, it was Miami over San Diego 6-2. Atlanta beat Arizona 6-2. Pittsburgh passed Milwaukee 2-1 in 14 innings winning their ninth straight game. The Dodgers won against Philadelphia 6-1 and Colorado fell to San Francisco 5-2.

Checking interleague play, Texas beat Cincinnati 3-2. Oakland topped St. Louis 7-5 and the Cubs bested Seattle 7-6.

In soccer news, Brazil won the Confederations Cup title again beating world champion Spain 3-0 for the Brazilians' third straight Confederations Cup. This comes as more than 5,000 anti-government protesters marched over the billions of dollars the Brazilian government is spending on major sporting events rather than public services.

In golf news, Inbee Park has made history by winning the first three LPGA majors of the season. The top-ranked Park closed with a 2-over-par 74 to capture the U.S. Women's Open.

Runners in the coast-to-coast One Run for Boston relay race have reached their finish line in Copley Square, 24 days after they started in Los Angeles, California. The end of the cross-country, non-stop relay organized to raise money for those injured and otherwise affected by the Boston Marathon bombings finished at approximately 12:45 a.m.

In the Tour de France, Jan Bakelants won the race’s second stage.

Finally in NASCAR, Matt Kenseth won the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway.
