The NBA draft was Thursday night and the Brooklyn Nets made the biggest news. A person with knowledge of the talks confirmed a Yahoo Sports report that the Nets and Celtics were working on a trade that would bring Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry to Brooklyn. This comes days after losing their head coach Doc Rivers to the Clippers. The trade can't be completed until July 10th.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had first pick at Barclays Center and chose UNLV forward Anthony Bennett. Bennett is the first Canadian to be taken No. 1 in the NBA draft.

Police say they are searching for a man named Ernest Wallace who they believe is in connection with the killing of one of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s friends.

Checking baseball scores, Jon Lester pitched into the eighth inning before leaving with an apparent injury, and Dustin Pedroia homered in a seven-run second to help the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 7-4 in the opener of a four-game series. Lester retired 10 straight to begin the game and didn't allow a hit until the fifth. Marlon Byrd hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning then threw out a runner from right field in the ninth to lead the New York Mets past the Colorado Rockies 3-2. Elsewhere, the Yankees fell to the Rangers 2-0.

In the American League, the Angels bested Detroit 3-1 in 10 innings. Baltimore passed Cleveland 7-3 and it was Minnesota over Kansas City 3-1.

In the National League, the Cubs topped Milwaukee 7-2. Arizona defeated Washington 3-2 in 11 innings and the Dodgers won against Philadelphia 6-4.

In tennis news, Serena Williams advanced to the third round at Wimbledon with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Caroline Garcia.

Finally, Novak Djokovic was also a Day 4 winner as he got rid of Bobby Reynolds of the U.S. in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3, 6-1. There are no American men left in the tournament.
