Oakland Sweeps Yankees 3-2 In 18 Innings

Well, it was a long one.

In the American League, Oakland beat the Yankees 3-2 in 18 innings. Nate Freiman drove in the game winner with a hit off Mariano Rivera. The Yankees took a 2-0 lead in the first and the A's tied things up with two in the third before getting the win and a three-game sweep.

Elsewhere, Baltimore defeated Boston 5-4 in 13 innings. Chris Davis singled home the tiebreaking run with two outs, giving the Orioles a win in the opener of a four-game series. Kansas City cruised ahead of Tampa Bay 10-1 and Toronto defeated Texas 3-1.

In the National League, Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals became the major leagues' first 10-game winner as St. Louis beat the Mets in New York 2-1. Wainwright pitched seven scoreless innings and sent Matt Harvey to his first loss of the season. The Cubs outscored Cincinnati 6-5 in 14 innings. Washington won against Colorado 5-4 and San Francisco shut out Pittsburgh 10-0.

Well, the NBA Finals are all tied up at two wins apiece after the Miami Heat beat the Spurs in Game 4 109-93. LeBron James scored 33 with Dwyane Wade adding 32.

Moving over to golf news, play in the opening round of the U.S. Open wasn't completed because of rain delays and darkness. When play was called the on-course leader was Luke Donald, who was 4-under through 13 holes.

Five-time runner-up Phil Mickelson grabbed the early clubhouse lead in the first round. He shot an opening round 3-under-67

Finally, Game 2 of the NHL Finals between the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks is Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
