A-Rod: Potential 100-Game Suspension In Doping Case

Well, Alex Rodriguez could be out for more games.

A person familiar with the case tells The Associated Press that the founder of a Miami anti-aging clinic has agreed to talk to Major League Baseball about players linked to performance-enhancing drugs. The information that Anthony Bosch provides MLB on any players who came to the now-closed Biogenesis of America clinic could lead to as much as 20 players being suspended for 100-games.

Elsewhere on Tuesday night, David Phelps followed the worst start of his career with his best, allowing a mere infield single in six shutout innings and getting home run help from Mark Teixeira as the Yankees beat Cleveland 4-3.

The Red Sox set season highs for hits and runs in a 17-5 rout of the Rangers last night. Jackie Bradley Jr. hit his first career home run and finished with three RBIs. Stephen Drew, Mike Carp and Jarrod Saltalamacchia also homered for the Red Sox.

Detroit crushed Tampa Bay 10-1. Baltimore beat Houston 4-1. Minnesota shut out Kansas City 3-0 and Seattle outscored the White Sox 7-4.

In the National League, the Mets fell to Washington 3-2. Colorado defeated Cincinnati 5-4. Philadelphia won against Miami 7-3 in 11 innings. Atlanta edged ahead of Pittsburgh 5-4 in 10 innings. Arizona beat St. Louis 7-6 in 14 innings and the Dodgers bested San Diego 9-7.

Moving over to interleague play, Milwaukee bounced Oakland 4-3. It was the Angels over the Cubs 4-3 and San Francisco topped Toronto 2-1.

Finally, in the NHL playoffs, Los Angeles defeated Chicago 3-1.
