Mets Rally Past Yankees 2-1, Rivera Stunned in Ninth

Well, it was another night of interleague play in the major leagues.

In the subway series, both David Wright and Lucas Duda hit RBI singles off Mariano Rivera in the ninth inning, and the Mets rallied past the Yankees 2-1 on Tuesday night to beat baseball's career saves leader. This happened only hours after honoring him at his final Citi Field game. Earlier, the Mets played a video tribute to Rivera that read, "Congratulations on a Hall of Fame career."

Elsewhere, the Phillies beat the Red Sox 3-1. It was Atlanta over Toronto 7-6. Colorado beat Houston 2-1. Washington cruised ahead of Baltimore 9-3. Pittsburgh shut out Detroit 1-0. Cincinnati downed Cleveland 8-2. Miami fell to Tampa Bay 7-6. Minnesota topped Milwaukee 6-5. St. Louis won against Kansas City 4-1. Oakland doubled up San Francisco 6-3. The Dodgers blanked the Angels 3-0 and San Diego beat Seattle 6-1.

Moving over to the NBA playoffs, the Eastern Conference finals are tied at two games apiece after the Pacers beat Miami 99-92. LeBron James had a game-high 24 points before fouling out with 56 seconds left.

In the NHL playoffs, Los Angeles is going to the NHL's Western Conference finals after beating San Jose 2-1. The Kings now await the winner of tonight’s game between the Chicago and Detroit.

In other sports news, top-seed Novak Djokovic made his way into the second round at the French Open after beating David Goffin of Belgium.

ESPN is reporting that Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is saying he is disappointed over quarterback Everett Golson's departure.
