In baseball news, checking the American League, Clay Buchholz improved to his seventh win without a loss and Boston beat the White Sox 6-2.  Elsewhere, Baltimore doubled up the Yankees 6-3. Oakland fell to Texas 3-1. Toronto defeated Tampa Bay 4-3 in a game that lasted 10 innings. The Angels slid past Seattle 7-1 and Houston edged ahead of Kansas City 3-1.

In the National League, it was Cincinnati over the Mets 7-4. The Dodgers took on Milwaukee and won 9-2. Colorado outscored Arizona 4-1. Washington defeated San Francisco 2-1. That game lasted 10 innings. Pittsburgh shut out the Cubs 1-0. Philadelphia beat Miami 3-0 and St. Louis won against San Diego 5-3.

Lastly, in interleague play, it was Atlanta over Minnesota 8-3.

In the NBA playoffs, it was Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals and Miami defeated the Indiana Pacers 103-102. LeBron James finished with his ninth postseason triple-double, delivering 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

In the NHL playoffs, Pittsburgh is a win away from a berth in the Eastern Conference finals after winning 7-3 over Ottawa. The Bruins take on the New York Rangers tonight. They lead the series 3-0.

In other sports news, It looks like Mike Krzyzewski wants more gold. A person with knowledge of the decision says the Duke coach has agreed to return as U.S. men's Olympic basketball coach for the 2016 Olympics.

Finally, The Times Union reports that University at Albany officials on Wednesday denied Internet rumors suggesting the school is on the verge of leaving the America East Conference to join the Colonial Athletic Association in all sports.
